Violet’s best friend is Dave the dragon. Dave is very friendly and helpful, but he is also very shy. And whenever he meets other people, he simply goes red and spouts flames, scaring them away. So despite Violet’s help, Dave wonders if he will ever fit in. But then one day his special abilities come to the rescue in a damp situation. “When you are shy, it is important to have a friend to help you find a way to belong. In this story, Dave, the dragon, is very shy. When he feels uncomfortable, he becomes very hot and suddenly he cannot control himself. Flames fly out of his mouth and scare everybody away, except his friend Violet. She tries and tries to help him belong. By the end of the story, she succeeds. His special ability makes the whole community love him and he is happy, and maybe a bit less shy.”- Sarah.
