The text book: resources for English 1
This is a text book, not a textbook. It is not an instruction manual, but an opportunity for students to discover the English language and to explore the ways meaning is made. It offers a wealth of language experiences – talking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and representing – and a great variety of types of text for students to respond to or compose. The Text Book: Book 1 contains eight integrated modules for junior secondary English students. There is special emphasis on visual literacy, on media, electronic and multimodal texts and on composing tasks of many kinds. Most tasks are open-ended, catering for a wide range of students and will challenge and stimulate students. All the tasks are designed to help students become more critically literate.
